FOODIE EXPLORER

Yellow and black icon of meat and leafy greens Capuchins love to explore their menu! They snack on fruits, nuts, insects, crabs, frogs, and even bird eggs. Their clever hands and sharp eyes help them find treats everywhere they go.

JUNGLE CHATTERS

Capuchins use over 30 different sounds to communicate! They also make funny faces and use scents to tell others if they’re happy, scared, or finding food.

TAIL LIKE A ROPE

Its tail is as long as its body! It can grab branches but isn’t as strong as a spider monkey’s.

TROOP LIFE

Capuchins live in family groups called troops, with 8 to 20 monkeys. They work together to find food, protect each other, and raise their babies — teamwork makes the troop stronger!

NAMED AFTER A MONK

A capuchin monkey on a wooden post with green foliage background. Their name “capuchin” comes from monks who wore brown robes with hoods, just like the monkey’s dark head fur and white face.

FROM COAST TO CANOPY

Capuchins can live from sea level up to 2,100 meters (6,800 feet), making homes everywhere from sunny beaches to misty mountain forests.

LONG HAPPY LIFES

In the wild, capuchins can live up to 35 years, and with proper care in protected environments, they can reach up to 47 years old!

You sure can! White-faced monkeys are some of the chattiest animals in the forest. They whistle, squeak, bark, and even scream to talk to each other; warning friends, calling their troop, or just saying hello!

White-faced monkeys are very commong in the area as well as Howler and Spider monkeys,
Hola! I am Balú, the leader of the troop. You might recognize me because I only have half of my tail. But I am still the alpha male. We are a group of White-face monkeys. My friend's names are Jerónimo, Margarita, Etiopía, Pandora, Yansy, Coquito, and Jack Jack. We had lived in different rescue centers before we were brought to Diamante by Sinac after the authorities concluded that we were not able to survive in the forest. We have so much fun here and get the most delicious food.
