SPIDER MONKEYS
Playful, smart, and super flexible: meet Costa Rica’s amazing jungle acrobats!
Energetic and full of curiosity, spider monkeys are the true gymnasts of the rainforest! With their long arms, legs, and super tails, they swing through the canopy faster than you can blink. At Diamante, you can watch them play, rest, and chat with their friends high in the trees. They’re clever, social, and always ready to show off their acrobatic moves for the camera!
SUPER TAILS
Spider monkeys use their tails like an extra arm. It helps them grab branches, pick fruit, and hang upside down. The bare tip acts like a grippy palm, keeping them steady while they move through the trees.
FOUR-FINGER FRIENDS

These monkeys have no thumbs, only four long fingers that make their grip quick and flexible. It is the perfect design for swinging easily through the forest canopy.
JUNGLE ACROBATS
Spider monkeys can leap up to nine meters in a single swing. Their strength and timing make them the best gymnasts of the jungle.
BIG FAMILIES
Spider monkeys live in large family groups called troops that can have more than 35 members! They spend their days swinging through the trees, playing, and helping each other find food.
HIGH CLIMBERS
Spider monkeys live high in the tallest rainforest trees, sometimes as high as 2,800 meters. From up there they spot food, friends, and fun.
HELP THEM SWING FREE
Spider monkeys are endangered because their forests are shrinking. Protecting trees helps them stay free, safe, and full of life.
FRUIT FEAST
Fruit is their favorite food. As they travel, they spread seeds that help new trees grow, keeping the rainforest healthy.
NAP LOVERS
After hours of swinging, spider monkeys love to rest. They curl up on tree branches, wrapping their tails around their bodies for balance and comfort.
MONKEY CHAT
Spider monkeys “talk” using whoops, barks, and squeals. These sounds help them stay in touch, warn of danger, or call their friends to play.

SUPER MOMS
Mothers carry their babies everywhere for nearly three years. The little ones learn by watching and following every move.
BABY TWINS
Most spider monkeys have one baby, but sometimes there are twins. The group helps care for both until they grow strong enough to explore.
LONG LIVES
With a safe forest, spider monkeys can live up to thirty-five years, spending their days swinging, exploring, and playing in the trees.

Spider monkeys fill the forest with sound. Their whoops and squeals echo through the trees as they call to friends or warn others nearby. The canopy is never quiet when they are around.
